The new Kobacker House will be located at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
COLUMBUS, OH, UNITED STATES, January 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Kobacker family today announced that Kobacker House, central Ohio’s pioneering inpatient hospice facility founded in 1989, will move and continue its mission under Ohio’s Hospice, the state’s largest nonprofit hospice provider.
As part of the announcement, the family published a guiding charter, The Kobacker Way, which details fundamental principles for quality nonprofit hospice care. The full document is available at www.TheKobackerWay.org.
The first location for the new Kobacker House will be at Ohio’s Hospice’s existing operations within University Hospital at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The Kobacker House Foundation and Ohio’s Hospice plan to eventually bring The Kobacker Way to the organization’s seven dedicated inpatient hospice facilities, which include five freestanding hospice houses and one additional leased inpatient hospice unit.
As the next phase of this partnership, the Kobacker House Foundation, Ohio’s Hospice, and The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center intend to collaborate on a variety of initiatives to support patients and families needing hospice and end-of-life care, including exploring the feasibility of developing a new, state-of-the-art, freestanding Kobacker House in Columbus – a dedicated facility designed from the ground up to embody The Kobacker Way in every detail.

Alfred Kobacker, with his father and mother, Arthur and Sara Jo Kobacker, founded Kobacker House and is a second-generation steward of the family’s hospice legacy in central Ohio. He helped shepherd the original 1989 inpatient hospice into being and later served as the honorary chair of the community campaign that funded the Kobacker House.
